Mother’s Mountain comes from an inspired homemade mustard recipe
Carol didn’t consider “homemade” to be anything special. As a child growing up during the Depression, “Homemade” was just something mother did. But Carol’s mom made a honey mustard for Carol’s dad, and he craved it. Too young to appreciate the spiciness, Carol couldn’t understand why he enjoyed it so much. As an adult, she loved it and soon realized she wasn’t the only one. Mom’s single honey-mustard recipe inspired Carol and her husband, Dennis, to launch Mother’s Mountain in 1982.
Mother’s Mountain has grown over the past 40 years into a known and loved maker of BBQ sauces, pepper sauces, jams, jellies, and more. We offer over 30 beloved specialty products and still operate our family business out of our home in Falmouth, Maine.
Mother’s Mountain jams, jellies, sauces, and marinades use only the best ingredients, and come from our all-natural family recipes. Each jar is handcrafted, hand-labeled, and hand-packed. And yes, that is our home telephone number on the label. We care about providing healthy alternatives, and many of our recipes are also:

Mother’s Mountain jingle
Carol’s son composed and introduced this fun jingle at the kitchen table. We played it when we launched Mother’s Mountain Mustard at the 1983 Portland Boat Show. Originally written by Steve Bither, The Wicked Good Band aired the jingle on radio. The local station said they had never had so many requests to play it. Thanks to David Roberts, a Maine musician, for the update. Be careful, it might stay in your head!
